what I'm doing now |
In 1999 my husband and I bought a sailboat and we lived aboard, cruising the US east coast, Bahamas, and Caribbean for three and a half years. Our cruising web site has photos and stories. (We also went back to the Bahamas for winter, 2004.) Now we are living in Durango, Colorado; ultimately we'd like to split our time between here and the boat. You can read my livejournal for boring minutiae about my quotidian life (updated a few times a month). Work-wise, I'm currently writing a column on weather for the Durango Herald , freelancing for a variety of magazines, and working part-time via the magic of telecommuting for the Climate and Global Dynamics Division of the National Center for Atmospheric Research. |

My name is Hebrew for "tree". It's not a common name, but there are a bunch of other Ilanas out there on the net. I'm lefthanded, and my birthday is no longer on this site after I was victimized by identity theft. I'm older than I look, or so I like to think, and can be considered either a member of the Baby Boomers or Generation X depending on where you choose to draw the line. |
exhilaration |
I enjoy outdoorsy stuff: things that involve physical challenges in beautiful scenery. Some stories about and photos of our adventures are in these pages: hiking and
backpacking (Current, and frequently
updated) |
