"a woman in a hat is a mysterious thing that beckons for
attention while at the same time concealing the wearer beneath..."--
Jay Cuthrell (wjcuthre@eos.ncsu.edu)
An awful lot of the email I got about my home page concerned, or at least
mentioned, The Hat. I admit it is a very silly hat.
- Why are you wearing a silly hat?
- This picture is from my wedding. It is traditional for brides to wear
white dresses, and to wear silly things on their heads. Usually the silly
things on their heads are veils, but I wanted a hat. There is a veil
hanging off the back where you can't see it, though.
- Why did you take the hat picture off your page?
- Well, like I said, it's from my wedding, which was April 7 1991.
I wanted a more recent photo. (I removed
the hat photo in late 1995)
- Did you dye your hair blonde or something?
- No, my hair's actually light brown. It just looks darker in the hat
picture, and lighter in the backpacking picture where I'm wading through
the river, and for some reason it looks red in the flannel shirt picture.
