Subject: deconstruction Date: 1998/12/09 Dismantling my life is no big trick; Like demolishing a building, the same sensation Beam by beam and brick by brick Stripped down to just the bare foundation. Pictures and love notes, old resumes From jobs that I didn't get; letters of praise From jobs I did well. Notebooks from college And grad school, stuffed with minutiae of knowledge That never quite got all the way through my skull. Ticket stubs saved from the concerts I've seen, The journal I wrote in at age seventeen, I pile them around me, I sort and I cull. Most are discarded; but upon the few Things I save, I will build my life's tower anew.
