the story so far
We left Boulder, Colorado on the last day of February, 1999 and road-tripped across the country in our VW camper van. In April we moved aboard for an open-ended cruise that ended up taking us three years, traveling all over the US east coast and circumnavigating the Caribbean. (Details are in the logs.) But we missed the mountains, among other things, and in July 2002 we stored Windom on the hard in central Florida and moved back to Colorado - this time to Durango, where we live and work when not on the boat.
We took the winter of 2004-2005 off and returned to the boat, cruising the Bahamas, then stored Windom again, this time at Myrtle Beach, SC before returning to Durango. In spring of 2007 we returned for another few months in the Bahamas, then put Windom on the hard and on the market in Beaufort, NC.
current plans
Keeping both a boat and a house is financially difficult for us, and we hate to see the way Windom deteriorates while we're not using it. Boats need to be sailed, not stored. We also would like to do some traveling-type things that don't involve cruising. So we made the decision to sell Windom, but leave open the possibility of another boat in the future. (Also, we have nice friends who have invited us to sail with them. So, yay!)
Thanks to all of you who followed along as virtual stowaways.
